SF Bay Area’s hottest and largest Bollywood dance company rocked the stage with more than 600 students performing in front of sold-out auditorium.

Show Finale with Pratik, Shobna, Ishika, Shivaani, Akhil, Mona, Vikash, Monika and Maya

Mona Sampath Dance Company (MSDC)’s first ever Fall Dance Showcase featured students of the company’s Bollywood dance classes as well as the company’s very own Emerging Performers and Professional Dance Troupe. They performed in front of packed audience who were left amazed after the show. Students with ages ranging from three year old tots to the senior citizen group fondly known as Jollywood truly looked like they were having a blast on stage. Notable performances included the students from Jeena, an organization for children with special needs.

Students from fifteen locations around the San Francisco Bay Area convened at the India Community Center in Milpitas to show off what they learned over nine weeks of intensive practice. The company scheduled three shows in one day to give all the students their time to shine on stage. The show’s theme honored the stars of Bollywood by having each location represent a famous name from tinsel town, from the captivating Helen to the dashing King Khan! The dance styles and hit numbers of each of the chosen stars were presented on stage by the classes.

The Emerging Performers and Professional Troupe featured a dynamic jazz piece, a soulful contemporary routine, and a mind-blowing Bollywood finale. The show stealer, however, was the tribute to Michael Jackson! With an encore performance in the third show, the act strung together some of the King of Pop’s biggest hits and it stayed true to his signature dance style - it was an obvious crowd favorite! Another sensation at the event was five year old dance student, Akhil Joondeph. He opened the show by chatting with the audience and going over a few house rules. His confidence and incredibly high cuteness quotient won the crowd over instantaneously.

The audience supported each group on stage – beginner level students, Jeena, Jollywood, and the company troupe. Cheering loudly and singing along to their favorite tunes – sitting in the audience was like being at one big party! Mona Sampath appeared in the closing seconds of the show and joined the professional dancers in a rousing routine. Glimpses of this multi-faceted and unparalleled choreographer and dancer are always a treat for the audience, and her entry on to stage is always met with deafening applause!

The company also showed a video demo of their new B-Fitness group exercise program. B-Fitness is a total body, non-stop, cardio workout set to the latest Bollywood music. A workout for people of all fitness levels - it is guaranteed to deliver results in a short period of time. With great music and breathtaking moves, the demo clip was not only informative but it created quite a buzz in the audience. The show closed with an energetic instructor act.

The next dance class session starts on January 11th in fifteen Bay Area locations and online registrations have already began. Visit MonaSampath.com to view the schedule and register.

The company is also holding auditions for adult dancers (ages thirteen and up) on December 19th and 22nd at the India Community Center in Milpitas. Additional details are available online.
