A recently- launched blog, titled Girlfriends Guide to French Lick, offers women a one-stop-shop for insider information on everything from where to stay to the best shopping in the area. With two world-class spas, championship golf, an array of activities and entertainment options, French Lick has a lot to offer in terms of amenities and

“The ever-evolving guide is a great resource for women planning a trip to French Lick,” said Mark Bommarito, vice president of marketing. “They can get information on different options around the resort, upcoming events and weekends designed specifically for them. We are hoping to build an interactive community where people can get trip planning advice and share their experiences.”

To help make travel planning easier, the resort has put together special girl-friendly packages suitable for friends and/or family. West Baden Springs Hotel is offering a special Mothers & Daughters package which includes an overnight stay for two, a manicure for each in the Spa at West Baden and $50 to use in one of the resort’s restaurants. The weekday (Sunday - Thursday) package starts at just $379 and can be booked online.

What would a girlfriend’s getaway be with a slumber party? French Lick Springs Hotel is offer the ultimate Slumber Party package which includes an overnight stay for two, an in-room movie and dessert delivered to the room. The weekday (Sunday - Thursday) package starts at $159 and can be booked through the resort’s website.

New for 2010 are “dust-off-your-hobby weekends” including workshops on cooking, scrapbooking, quilting and more. The shared- interest weekends are a perfect excuse to get together old friends or make new ones.

Culinary Classics
Comfort Foods for a Cold Winter Night
January 9
$30 per class/$120 for all
For those looking to brush up on their skills in the kitchen, or pick-up some new tricks, the January 9 Culinary Classic is ideal. The theme is Comfort Foods for a Cold Winter Night and guests will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the resort chefs as they share tips and tricks for the home-cook. The schedule of classes includes: Waffles, Pancakes and other Morning Specialties, Best of Winter Soups, Bakers Breads, Decadent Desserts and Ultimate Hot Drinks. The sessions are arranged so that guests can take one class, which is priced at $30 each, or stay all day for just $120. A special Culinary Classics hotel package, including all of the classes is available for $174 per person (plus tax) and is based on double occupancy. Scrapbooking Retreat
January 15-16
$259 Total package price, based on double occupancy ($129.50 per person)

Whether they are new to scrapbooking or just want time to work on a project, craft enthusiasts will enjoy the ultimate Scrapbooking Retreat. The jam-packed weekends include sessions such as Genealogy & Scrapbooking, Graphic Design, What’s New in Scrapbooking, Photography and more. Vendors will be onsite throughout the weekend to keep the scrapbookers supplied.

Quilts and More (Much More) Weekend
Feb. 26-28

Guests can rediscover the lost art of hand-made textiles in this weekend dedicated to stitchers, knitters and weavers. Workshops will be offered for a variety of interests including quilting, weaving, needlepoint, embroidery, crocheting and macramé.

The weekend includes everything a fiber artist would be interested in including workshops, exhibits and a trade show. Wearable textile arts will be featured during a special dinner fashion show. Girlfriends who “rock” should check out the resort’s list of headliners scheduled to perform 2010. Next up on the schedule is Foreigner on January 23. 70’s rock sensation America is on tap for February 19. Some of the band's best known songs are "A Horse with No Name", "Sister Golden Hair", "Ventura Highway", "Tin Man", and "Lonely People".
