TRG Direct just released a new feature to the company's self filing ISF application. The new feature allows customers to upload Importer Security Filings in one simple step by using an excel ISF upload template, reducing ISF filing time to just seconds.

TRG Direct recently reduced the filing time for Importer Security Filing self filers. The introduction of their excel ISF upload template allows importers to upload information directly into an ISF. Self filers simply input data in the appropriate part of the template and upload it directly into TRG Direct. After a quick review, the ISF can be transmitted directly to U.S. Customs via a direct Automated Broker Interface (ABI) connection.

Another nice quality about the excel spreadsheet is the usefulness in coordination with an importer's overseas vendors. Most vendors are already filling out ISF information templates or word documents for their U.S. importers; now, they can simply fill out TRG Direct’s ISF upload spreadsheet. This saves the importer time because they don’t need to re-key the information for their ISF; they just upload the spreadsheet which auto-populates their information directly into TRG Direct.

TRG Direct offers three easy options for filing Importer Security Filings. Auto-population and fixed templates within TRG Direct allow for repetitive information to be completed quickly by simply typing the first few letters of a previous record and a saved template can be brought up in a matter of seconds. The new ISF excel upload spreadsheet will allow the importer greater flexibility in gathering data from suppliers for direct upload to TRG Direct. The system also offers self filers with the option of supplying ISF information in electronic data formats to auto-populate and auto-transmit their ISF from within their system using an XML data schema. “I already thought our system made ISF filing as easy as it could get,” Jamie Dinan, TRG Direct Sales Administrator, said. “This new spreadsheet means ISFs can now be filed in seconds instead of minutes. Now, it makes more sense than ever to self file your ISF.”

In late November 2008, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released its final interim ruling entitled “Importer Security Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements”, ISF/10+2, in the Federal Register. The interim final rule requires both importers and carriers to submit additional information pertaining to cargo for import into the United States, to CBP 24 hours prior to the goods being laded for the U.S. The compliance phase of Importer Security Filing begins January 26th, 2010. At this time, importers must have policies and procedures in place in order to comply with ISF.

Self filing or direct filing is offered by a select number of compliance solutions. TRG Direct states on their website that self filing allows importers to keep the control in house as a time efficient and flexible ISF solution.
