Management Health Solutions, Inc. (MHS), a leader in the field of Optimal Inventory Control Solutions, announced it has been selected by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-New Brunswick (RWJUH-NB) to identify & reduce excess clinical supply inventory and to also reduce their overall OR inventory investment.

Based in New Brunswick, New Jersey and ranked among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for heart and heart surgery, RWJUH-NB is a 600-bed academic medical center and the principal teaching hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. It is also the hub of a clinically-integrated medical campus that includes the NCI-designated Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the Child Health Institute of New Jersey and The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital. Over 1,300 physicians and surgeons in every specialty are affiliated with the hospital.

By signing this agreement with MHS,RWJUH-NB has been able to make drastic cuts to their clinical supply expense by establishing a baseline and then managing on an ongoing basis critical, clinical supply item data. RWJUH-NB selected MHS based on its proven track record of helping leading hospitals across the nation cut their clinical supply expense. "Best-in-class operations now is what we are all about," added Mike Ferris, Vice President of Operations at MHS. "We are committed to helping hospitals save money and improve patient care at the same time."

MHS knows that even the best hospitals do not have accurate information about the clinical supplies they buy, use and store in operating and emergency rooms, cath labs and other special procedure departments. The materials management systems are rarely current with complete and accurate data. This inaccuracy has huge financial impact. Industry experts estimate that 50 percent of expenditures in healthcare are related to clinical supplies. The average 350-bed hospital can have millions in clinical supplies just in its operating rooms.

"By allowing MHS' expert team to come in and clean its clinical content, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-New Brunswick will be able to better manage their clinical inventory and increase profits," said Mark Pelletier, Director of Content Operation at MHS. "We are excited to be working with such a prestigious hospital as RWJUH-NB."
