San Francisco, CA (Vocus) December 16, 2009
Award-winning culinary events company Parties That Cook® today announced that it will host Cooking for a Cause, an interactive cooking event benefitting Room to Read, on February 4, 2010 at Crushpad, a San Francisco custom-wine company. The fundraiser is open to the public and all ticket purchases and event proceeds will go to Room to Read, a non-profit organization that helps millions of children gain access to education in developing countries. Funds raised at Cooking for a Cause will provide educational resources to children in Asia and Africa.
Date: Thursday, February 4, 2010
Time: 5:45-9:00 p.m. PST
Location: Crushpad Winery, 2573 3rd St., San Francisco, Calif.
To attend: Tickets are now available for purchase here.
At the event, guests will enjoy dishes from Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Africa—all regions served by Room to Read. Whole Foods Market will donate fresh ingredients for the menu and Crushpad will provide a variety of wines for attendees to enjoy. Guests will come together to create and enjoy mouthwatering dishes, such as Indian-spiced lamb burgers with cucumber raita, grilled shrimp skewers with mint-jalapeno sauce, and peanut and coconut pot stickers with sweet and spicy soy dipping sauce. After dinner, Room to Read Founder John Wood will share the organization’s story and why he has dedicated his life to providing much needed educational resources to children in developing nations.
Individuals unable to attend the event can still support Room to Read's efforts by making a donation to give the life-long gift of education to children in Asia and Africa here. Cooking for a Cause should be mentioned in the "tribute" field on the donation form. Tickets are not tax deductible, but donations made at the event will be.
