QuestNet has made history by being the official corporate sponsor of the Malaysian Blind Football Team, enabling Malaysia to be represented for the very first time at the regional football tournament for the Blind, organised by the International Blind Sporting Federation (IBSA) in Tokyo, Japan.

The contingent was put together by the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB), which in January this year encouraged blind sportsmen to participate in the event. After being actively groomed and trained by Coach K.P.D Andre and team manager Dr S. Radhakrishnan, seven of the sportsmen were picked to form the team that would represent Malaysia at the 3rd IBSA Asia Five-A-Side Football Championship 2009, to be held from 15-21 December 2009 in Chofu City, Tokyo.

This championship will act as a qualifier to the World Futsal Championship for the Blind in Hereford, Great Britain in 2010.

“Malaysia was not able to send a contingent in the past two championships due to lack of funds and also because there was no ready team that matched up to tournament standards,” said Dato’ S Kulasegaran, Acting President for MAB. “This year, however, MAB was able to secure sponsorship and is grateful to QuestNet being the official corporate sponsor for the regional championship, which has allowed our participation this year.”

At the flag handing over ceremony, QuestNet Malaysia General Manager V. Navaratnam said QuestNet is proud to play a part in enabling the Malaysian team to participate in this championship.

“We are in the business of providing opportunities to individuals who want to better their lives. In QuestNet, we are guided by the philosophy of RYTHM, which stands for ‘Raise Yourself To Help Mankind’, and this endeavour is definitely in line with that. We wish the Malaysian Team all the best and whatever the outcome, we know that they will do Malaysia proud by being the first such team to participate in this event and we are confident they will give their best to this competition,” he said.
