Glue Dots International, manufacturer of Glue Dots® Brand, double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive products, has announced its transition to 100% recycled paperboard packaging for its retail roll adhesive products. Glue Dots are widely used by consumers for craft, school and home projects because they bond instantly to virtually any surface including paper, plastic, glass, textiles, metal and wood.

The new eco friendly packaging, reaching distribution channels in December 2009, uses Rock-Tenn Coated Recycled Board (CRB) made of 100% recycled fiber containing an average of 35% post-consumer waste. The new green packaging is also recyclable and is recognized as being the most recovered packaging material in the United States. “One of the environmentally-friendly aspects of the Rock-Tenn packaging is that it requires 70% less total energy to produce than other packaging materials we explored,” explained Bev Arrowood, Global Sales and Marketing Director of Glue Dots’ Consumer Products Division. “We also considered the entire manufacturing process of the new packaging and were pleased to learn that it requires 90% less water to produce than similar products, which means 90% less effluent water discharged at the end of the process.” Additionally, the new Glue Dots packaging is recyclable by consumers, further enhancing its contribution to environmental sustainability.

The craft, home, school and office Glue Dot products will be available in the new eco friendly packaging. Included in that roll-product line are 1” Glue Lines®, Continuous Glue Lines®, Pop Up Glue Dots®, Removable Glue Dots®, Memory Book Glue Dots®, Mini Glue Dots® and Craft Glue Dots®.

Bev Arrowood also noted that the company’s transition to recycled/recyclable packing is yet another step Glue Dots International has taken toward providing safe and eco friendly products. “Glue Dot products are non-toxic and odorless. Unlike hot glue guns, our products offer no risk of the users incurring burns.” Additionally Ms. Arrowood explained that Glue Dots are also acid free, lignin free and conform to ASTM D-4236.

Glue Dots International, founded in 1995, revolutionized the adhesive industry with its easy-to-use pressure sensitive products.
