Attorneys Aaron Lovaas, Kristan Lehtinen and Law Clerk Trevor Creel contributed a feature article to the NASABA (North American South Asian Bar Association) newsletter for the month of October 2009. NASABA provides a vital link between South Asian lawyers and the South Asian community across North America. The article, titled, “Indian Protectionism in the Global Market,” outlines various justifications for Indian economic protectionism, especially in the field of law. It proposed possible solutions to dissolve these incumbent barriers while offering insight regarding benefits that would stem from liberalization. With the onset of liberalization in other markets, the article is prefaced on the belief that India will eventually liberalize its legal sector leading to substantial economic growth. Creel is a native of Las Vegas and currently a law clerk at Lovaas & Lehtinen, P.C. He is enrolled as a student attorney at the Thomas and Mack Legal Clinic, has externed at the Eighth Judicial District Court (‘Family Division”) in Las Vegas and instructed the community on family law matters.

About Aaron D. Lovaas:
Aaron Lovaas is a Las Vegas native, having earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 1992. Lovaas obtained his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the Seattle University School of Law in 1995, followed by his Master’s in Business Administration from UNLV in 2002. Lovaas was admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of Nevada in 1995 and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2000. Lovaas received his Diploma in Trial Advocacy Skills from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in 2002 and practices primarily in the areas of business related litigation, including representation of lenders, construction companies and contractors, and business owners.
About Kristan E. Lehtinen:
Kristan E. Lehtinen is a business law attorney and litigator with substantial experience representing local, national, and international clients, business owners and corporate executives across the business spectrum. Ms. Lehtinen was profiled in the 2009 Rising Stars edition of Mountain States Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the mountain states' top business litigators under 40. Lehtinen is an immigrant to the United States from Ontario, Canada, having earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Honors with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1995. Following receipt of her undergraduate degree, Ms. Lehtinen was employed in Seoul, South Korea as an English teacher, and traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia. Ms. Lehtinen obtained her Juris Doctorate, from California Western School of Law in 2001. Ms. Lehtinen was admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of Nevada in 2002.
