Guitar Aficionado magazine, a publication for the high-end guitar collector, is hosting a three-day special event in London for fans of guitar legends Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. The two musicians are performing together for a special, limited-engagement tour and readers of Guitar Aficionado will have an opportunity to see the famed musicians at their kick off show in London’s O2 Arena. The event is co-sponsored in conjunction with Affluence.org, the leading private social network for high net worth individuals.
The Guitar Aficionado London Experience, from Feb. 12 though 15, includes three nights at the 5-star May Fair Hotel in London’s West End, premium seating at London’s O2 Arena for the concert, VIP hospitality before and after the show, plus an evening at one of London’s finest restaurants. Other perks include a drive around London in an exotic car hosted by the Classic Car Club of London. A limited number of premium tickets are available for both the Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 concerts in London.
”Our desire was to create a package that incorporates a wide spectrum of our readers’ interests and embraces an entirely upscale, yet rock and roll sensibility,” said Greg Di Benedetto, publisher of Guitar Aficionado. The glossy magazine is published quarterly and the Beck/Clapton concert is its first premium travel package.
“We’re proud to partner with Guitar Aficionado in this unique travel package,” said Doug Stukel, CEO of Affluence.org. “Our goal is to bring exciting opportunities to our members, helping them find the experiences they can’t get anywhere else.”
Beck and Clapton were both members of the legendary Yardbirds in the 1960s, although they were not in the band at the same time. Both went on to very successful solo careers and are listed among Rolling Stone Magazine’s Top 100 guitar players of all time, with Clapton at No. 4 and Beck at No. 14. The two guitar maestros have been friends for decades but have rarely shared the same stage.
In February of 2008, Beck and Clapton headlined a show in Japan for the first time. That experience led to the limited-engagement tour in February 2010.
”I’ve always considered Jeff Beck to be one of the finest guitar players around,” Eric Clapton said in a statement announcing the tour. “He’s a friend, a great guy, and a truly gifted musician. We had such a fun time in Japan that it seemed natural to play together again.”
