Green Energy training at Northeast Technical Institute provides students and professionals the skills to help lead their community’s transition to energy independence and economic prosperity.

Northeast Technical Institute (NTI) announced today that it will begin offering a Green Energy Technician (GET) training program. The program can be completed in six weeks and will prepare its graduates with multiple industry certifications as well as an understanding of energy efficient Gas (Fossil Fuel), Energy Conservation Methods, and Solar Thermal Installation.

Upon graduation students may apply for entry level positions with independent contractors in the fields of Efficient Heating, Energy Auditing, and Solar Installation. The program also gives graduates a thorough understanding in the fundamentals of proven methods to reduce the consumption of oil and create new green paths to the future.

Successful candidates of the GET program will earn three valued industry certifications; Propane and Natural Gas Technician, Certified Residential Energy Auditors (Maine Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®) and Certified Solar Thermal Installers Certification. “These three emerging energy and conservation sectors are at the fore front of today’s vital educational requirements for reducing carbon dependency and producing green efficiencies for a sustainable energy future,” said Steve Stilphen, NTI’s Director of Green Energy training.

As fossil fuels become less available and increasingly expensive, green energy such as geothermal, solar and natural gas become more important to America’s environment and economy. So far the industry sector that includes clean, renewable and efficient energy has been holding up well under continuing bad news from just about every other segment of the US economy. “Green energy stands out as a bright spot in an otherwise cloudy economic picture. NTI is excited to offer this new program to students, who will learn to use leading technological equipment and energy conservation practices,” said James Liponis, CEO and President of NTI.
