Artfact (http://www.artfact.com), the global leader in online live auctions and software announced today that Martin Kay, former partner at Bain & Company and most recently CEO of Finetune, was named Chief Revenue Officer. On December 11, 2009, Artfact merged with Auctionzip, the world’s largest directory of live auction listings, and completed a $13 million round of growth financing by Boston-based Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Ascent Venture Partners.

Bringing more than twenty years of executive experience advising and managing media and online companies on strategy, marketing, and sales, Kay will oversee Artfact’s commercial activities, including revenue growth, business development, and user acquisition.

"These are exciting times for the entire live auctions industry. As CRO of Artfact, Martin will maximize revenue opportunities and expand live auctions from 150 of the largest auction houses with $1 billion-plus turnover using Artfact Live and Invaluable Live today to thousands of auctioneers using Auctionzip Live in March 2010. We're thrilled to have him on board," said Artfact Chairman and CEO Adam Kirsch.

Kay, who holds an MA in Physics from Oxford and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, expressed his excitement about joining the Artfact/Auctionzip team, “Artfact is the undisputed leader in the online live auction business and is perfectly positioned to extend its dominance as growth in the online channel accelerates.”

On the heels of the merger, Artfact and Auctionzip announced the introduction of Auctionzip Live for March 2010. Auctionzip Live will enable Auctionzip’s dedicated community of auction house customers to run live auctions on Auctionzip.com using Artfact’s industry-leading live auction technology.
