Mascus has introduced local websites to better approach customers and visitors in the various English-speaking countries

We have always had the best of our customers and visitors at heart. It is one of the reasons behind our successful internationalization

Mascus, the worldwide premium media for heavy machinery and transportation vehicles, has introduced local versions for all its English domains; : mascus.co.uk for UK, mascus.ie for Ireland, mascus.co.az for South Africa, mascus.com.au for Australia, mascus.co.nz for New Zealand, mascus.ca for Canada and mascus.com for USA. With this change, Mascus hopes to better approach visitors, buyers and customers in their native languages, meet their expectations and assist them in the process of buying and selling used machinery and trucks locally and internationally.

“We have always had the best of our customers and visitors at heart. It is one of the reasons behind our successful internationalization.” says Mascus Managing Director Fredrik Larsson.

Continuous improvements

The 2009 has been the year of changes for the company, as Mascus opened its first offices outside of Europe – in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Canada and USA. “When we added this many new English domains to Mascus, we realized that we need to be sensitive to the visitors’ needs. And language is the first issue we want to improve. Of course, people in different parts of the world speak a little different English language. ” says Tomasz Odrobinski, Marketing/ Internationalization Director.

After implementing the new domains, Mascus hopes to be able to help buyers and sellers of heavy machinery and transportation vehicles to find the right equipment they need in their native language or in the English language spoken in their country. “In addition, by implementing Mascus’ internationalisation strategy we are aiming to reflect trading patterns among the countries. As we were informed by the major manufacturers in the English-speaking countries, despite their big geographical distances they want to stay in close trade cooperation when it comes to heavy machinery and transportation vehicles,” said Mr. Odrobinski, adds. “A good example can be the cooperation of Australian and South African dealers. In Australia the end-users of heavy construction machinery are genuinely interested in purchase possibilities from South Africa and South Africans are interested in purchase possibilities of mining machinery from Australia. Those two countries are similar not only because of the language but also in terms of popularity of certain brands and such simple but important aspect as the usage of right-hand-drive. That is why we are constantly making improvements to all the websites of English-speaking countries, as our aim is to provide cooperation possibilities for Mascus’ users worldwide.”

More and more English domains

The oldest of Mascus’ English domains; http://www.mascus.co.uk has been designed for the British market. It currently has over 300 registered dealers and over 6,000 classified ads of used machinery and equipment. Additionally, because of its geographical proximity Mascus adds the Irish domain – http://www.mascus.ie. Currently the Irish website has around 3,000 ads and 100 customers. The rest of the newly added English domains are constantly increasing the amount of dealers and adverts they have, and for example even though added in January 2009, the South African domain http://www.mascus.co.za has over - 1,000 ads and 60 registered dealers.

“We have been very happy to follow positive developments in all Mascus countries, and the correct approach to customers is our main strength, I believe. We hope in the future to add more countries to Mascus, in this number other countries, where English as an official language, for example India and local approach will be needed there as well.” Tomasz Odrobinksi concludes.
