We're proud to assist our neighbors at Brooklyn Community Foundation, helping to uplift families and connect them with resources and people who are eager to help.
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) December 23, 2009
This season, The JAR Group is helping to make the holidays a little brighter for homeless children in Brooklyn by teaming up with their next-door neighbors at the The Brooklyn Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that recently launched the Caring Neighbors Holiday Campaign.
The Caring Neighbors Holiday Campaign aims to inspire hope for homeless children and their families by providing 650 children with a "Caring Neighbor Kit” filled with toys and children's books, all donated by caring Brooklynites. According to the Daily News, another partner in this initiative, homelessness has reached record highs in Brooklyn this year, with more than 6,000 families throughout the borough having applied for temporary housing.
To assist the Brooklyn Community Foundation in its efforts to help those in need, The JAR Group donated over $1500 of toys from Rosie Hippo, an earth-friendly toy company that produces handcrafted, earth-friendly toys. The JAR Group also helped assemble the gift bags, which were disseminated yesterday at a holiday party sponsored by CAMBA, another Brooklyn-based non-profit organization that connects low-income New Yorkers with opportunities to enhance their quality of life.
In The Spirit of Giving, their roundup article of local charities to donate to this holiday season, The Brooklyn Eagle highlighted The Brooklyn Community Foundation's holiday fundraising efforts. Though the toy and book drive has ended, monetary donations are still needed to meet the Caring Neighbors Campaign's goals. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, gifts up to $250 will be matched dollar for dollar. If you are interested in making a contribution to this effort, you can donate online at https://www.brooklyncommunityfoundation.org/donate , or by mail to 45 Main St., Suite 409, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201.
The JAR Group's CEO, Andrew Lawrence says, "The Caring Neighbors Campaign is a great example of the strong spirit of philanthropy in Brooklyn. And while it is important to give back to the community year-round, it is especially so during the holiday season. We're proud to assist our neighbors at Brooklyn Community Foundation, helping to uplift families and connect them with resources and people who are eager to help."
In addition to lending a helping hand to its Brooklyn neighbors, The JAR Group provides online marketing services and support to other non-profit organizations that lack the capacity to invest in these resources. They recently partnered with Bloganthropy.org, an organization that combines the power of social media with the resources of corporate giving. And earlier this year, they ran a successful online marketing campaign for FACES, a non-profit organization which is part of the NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Langone Medical Center. Through pro-bono SEO work and a social media outreach campaign, The JAR Group increased monthly traffic to the FACES website by over 30%.
Employee volunteerism and fund raising is also strongly encouraged at The JAR Group--as part of their benefits package, each employee is given two extra days off per year to devote to volunteer work. This year, the team worked with Cure Alzheimer's Fund as well as Affiliate Marketers Give Back, an organization committed to raising money for breast cancer research.
