In January, Seville will play host to the Parade of the Three Kings, which could be the perfect way to round off a Christmas holiday.

The story of the Christmas nativity is probably one of the most well-known in the world and a tale that influences one particular event in Spain.

If those staying at accommodation in Seville (http://www.laterooms.com/en/k15807305_seville-hotels.aspx) at the beginning of January are keen to carry on the festive spirit before they return to work, they may want to experience the Parade of the Three Wise Men.

Also known as the Parade of the Three Kings, or Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos in Spanish, this annual event takes place on January 5th 2010.

It celebrates the time when the three men travelled to see the new-born baby Jesus by following a star to Bethlehem.

The Spanish tradition has taken place every year since 1918 and people of all ages flock to the streets to enjoy the spectacle.

A highlight of the event is the floats that travel through the city, transporting people dressed in colourful costumes.

Around 30 are involved and they throw sweets out to the children who come along to gaze at the carriages.

This parade marks the arrival of the Three Kings in the city and, according to the official tourism website of Andalucia, is an "exceptional display of light and colour".
