We developed a special cleaning service to address the concerns of our customers about the swine flu virus

Superclean Services, a leading London contract cleaning firm, has responded to the concerns of clients about swine flu by developing a special cleaning service.

Swine flu may be introduced into the workplace when someone suffering from the virus touches a hard surface such as a table or a stair rail. The virus can then spread from one employee to another once someone else comes into contact with the same contaminated surface. Superclean’s special cleaning service uses the Evans Safe Zone disinfectant. Safe Zone is a virucidal cleaning product. Using Safe Zone kills the virus and so prevents cross-contamination.

Superclean developed its Safe Zone cleaning method in response to the concerns over swine flu that one of its clients, an inner London comprehensive school, raised back in May 2009. To find a solution, Superclean sought advice from the National Health Service, from cleaning suppliers and from other sources. In addition, Superclean was able to draw on its own extensive industry experience. As a result, Superclean was able to offer the school an effective anti-viral cleaning service that satisfied the school’s concerns.

Following consulations, Superclean established that Safe Zone was the most effective chemical to use for tackling swine flu. In order to train staff in the use of Safe Zone, Superclean was able to utilise its own operational team. All of the operational managers at Superclean are assessors for the British Institute of Cleaning Science, BICSc, the cleaning industry’s leading professional and educational body.

Superclean had already been training its staff to be aware of health and environmental concerns. Following the swine flu outbreak, Superclean began to train its staff in the Safe Zone cleaning method as well. The training, overseen by BICSc assessors, is carried out on site and on the job. Superclean’s Safe Zone training programme is ongoing. Already over 40 per cent of Superclean’s workforce has received detailed training in how to use the Safe Zone product safely and in a way that ensures maximum benefit to the customer.

Superclean’s proactive approach to the swine flu pandemic is paying dividends. Some of Superclean’s biggest customers have asked the contract cleaner to apply the Safe Zone cleaning method on their sites. These customers include corporate bodies, facilities management companies and leading businesses.

Besides the demand for a cleaning service that can address the swine flu pandemic, Superclean has also seen evidence of public concern over the virus in its janitorial supplies division. Customers of Superclean’s janitorial supplies have been buying anti-viral hand gel in much larger quantities.

In response to the concerns of its clients, Superclean took the threat of swine flu seriously, and acted promptly to devise a solution that would meet customer expectations. Superclean now has over six months’ experience of delivering a cleaning service that can help check the spread of swine flu, and training for staff in the Safe Zone cleaning method continues. As a result of Superclean’s full training capability, the company has succeeded in providing clients with a specially designed service that can be of real use to them in tackling swine flu. Superclean expects high-risk environments such as schools to be among the main customers for the Safe Zone cleaning method in the future.

“We developed a special cleaning service to address the concerns of our customers about the swine flu virus,” said Justin Richards, Business Development Manager at Superclean. “I am extremely proud that Superclean followed this request through, so that we have been able to roll this cleaning system out to over forty percent of our workforce. Our aim moving forward is to train all of our staff to be able to deliver the service. Then we will be able to offer all our customers true peace of mind in relation to this potentially lethal threat.”

Superclean Services is a leading London contract cleaning firm, providing cleaning services and janitorial supplies to offices, restaurants, business parks and retail spaces.
