Chicago author Bryan W. Alaspa is releasing his latest suspense thriller, “After the Snowfall,” just in time for Christmas, but with a twist. This book will be published exclusively for Amazon Kindle users and available only as an eBook from Amazon.com. Mr. Alaspa has been at the forefront of electronic publishing for years and wanted to do something special for those who are now embracing the format.

“I think electronic publishing is the wave of the future,” said Mr. Alaspa. “While I always hope that print books will be around, there is something to this eBook phenomenon. I think it opens up doors not only to the readers, but to writers as well. I know that my eBook versions of my various novels have always sold better than the print versions.”

“After the Snowfall” is Mr. Alaspa’s seventh novel. He is also the author of several non-fiction books. However, he has become known in the fiction world for his thrillers, mysteries, suspense and horror novels. Of his fiction work the novels “The Vanished Child” and “Dust” are available in print and Kindle versions. Earlier in 2009 he released the horror novel “Gone” as a free eBook for smartphone users with eReader apps.

“After the Snowfall” tells the story of the fictional down of Darrick, Illinois. The town has been buried in snow following a terrible blizzard. The next morning, as the town awakens and tries to dig out, several townspeople notice three men, dressed in black, walking down the middle of the only road in town. For some reason, these men instill fear in everyone who sees them. What happens next and how the town is forever changed is told throughout the course of a single day.

“I wrote the novel during National Novel Writing Month in 2008,” continued Mr. Alaspa. “I like to think the novel hits the ground running and doesn’t let up. It was a story that just flowed out of me and I had to finish it. It was fun to write, so I think it will be fun to read.”

The Amazon Kindle is a digital book reader that allows users to carry multiple books on a single device. According to Amazon.com, the Kindle is the number one holiday present on Amazon.com for 2009. In recent months, large publishers have reacted to the rising popularity of eReaders by stating they will limit when books by their biggest authors will be made available for eReader customers.

“I think that just opens the door for other independent authors who may not have big publishing contracts,” added Mr. Alaspa. “It’s a great chance to get your work out there to an rapidly growing audience. I look forward to doing more with Amazon and the various eReaders coming on the market in the future.”

“After the Snowfall” will be published on or around Christmas of 2009. It will be available exclusively for Kindle users at Amazon.com.
