Author Henry Riffe shares the story of his life in rural West Virginia

From the Mountaintops to the Valleys of Jolo, McDowell County, West Virginia has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. Memories of a childhood spent in the mountains of West Virginia intertwine with descriptions of daily life in declining Appalachia in this autobiography. Henry Riffe tells his own story, as well as the stories of the people in his family and community, with grace and humor.

After the joys and hardships of his childhood, Henry moves on to focus on his life as a coal miner. But the love of the mountains and his hometow people continually beckon him westward.

Henry Riffe was born in West Virginia, and he is currently retired and living in Appomattox, Virginia. He enjoys gardening and flying and has been an active member of the AOPA, Aircraft Owners Pilots Association, since 1972.
