Leaders of The HuB, Sarasota, Florida’s destination for entrepreneurs and professionals to connect and share ideas, are proud to announce that the first company to launch as a result of the unique synergies at the center. Tripwi.re, a burglar alarm for email inboxes. When an intruder, whether a hacker or a snooper, opens a booby-trapped email, Tripwi.re detects the invasion and alerts its clients via text message.

Tripwi.re is the creation of Sarasota resident Janis Krums and his business partner Eric Velasquez, an internet engineer from San Francisco. The two launched the company during July’s Vinyl Music Festival, an event that The HuB created to encourage young professionals to check out Sarasota’s creative and tech scenes.

Around the same time as the Festival, a prominent break-in to Twitter resulted in the release of over 300 internal company documents. These included financial predictions, strategies, acquisition targets, bank information, and trade secrets. Twitter was devastated by the publication of its confidential information. Krums and Velasquez recognized the need and formulated a way to mitigate catastrophe by stopping hackers quickly.

While launching the company near Silicon Valley was an obvious choice, it was The Hub’s resources and the expertise of its cofounders, Matt Orr and Rich Swier, Jr, that convinced Krums and Velasquez to base the company in Sarasota.

"We saw what Matt and Rich are trying to provide entrepreneurs through The HuB. It makes sense to pool the assets and resources so entrepreneurs don’t have to leave town in order to start, grow or sustain a business," says Krums, "So it made sense for Tripwi.re to call Sarasota home."

Krums and Velasquez have recently completed a beta program and are launching Tripwi.re on September 14th.

"We’re really excited about what Tripwi.re can do to help people stay safe online," Velasquez said. "It offers real peace of mind when you know that you can catch an intruder in seconds."
