Larson Electronics Magnalight adds an explosion proof LED pen flashlight for hazardous area location use. This Zone Zero rated LED flashlight carries IECex worldwide intrinsically safe rating as well as an ATEX rating for European markets. These ratings are equivalent to UL 783 Class 1 Division and Class 2 Division 1 safety ratings.

Larson Electronics Magnalight announced the addition of a new explosion proof LED flashlight with an intrinsically safe Zone Zero rating that meets UL’s Class 1 Division 1 rating for Groups A, B, C and D and Class II Division 1 for Groups E,F and G. This explosion proof LED flashlight also carries a IECEx Ex ia iaD IIC T4 T80C Ga Da rating and an ATEX II 1 GD Ex ia iaD IIC T4 T80C Ga Da safety rating for European markets. Much like the EXP-LED-F4W explosion flashlight, which carries the same international safety ratings, the EPL-LEDP405 uses the latest LED chip technology with a deep parabolic reflector. Although pen sized, this new intrinsically safe LED flashlight generates 25 lumens and runs 20 hours, projecting a beam 50 feet. Equipped with a pocket style clip and a magnet, this LED pen light can be attached in and around inspection areas within any hazardous area location populated with flammable vapors or explosive dusts. Weighing only 1.5 ounces and measuring 6.5 inches the EPL-LEDP405 explosion proof LED pen light is as portable as any standard pen, but produces significantly more light than any other pen light on the market today.

So by incorporating the same concept into this new intrinsically safe LED pen style flashlight, we have a very small LED flashlight that produces a strong beam to 50 feet. While the EXP-LED-F4W produces a 225 foot beam and takes 3 AA batteries, this smaller pen flashlight take 4 AAAA batteries. Both explosion proof flashlights are priced u under $40 and are rated for 50,000 life hours, which makes these low cost, fully intrinsically safe, bright flashlights ideal for use in hazardous areas. For shorter distances and intermittent use, these hazardous area location flashlights fill the gap between weak, low cost incandescent flashlights and larger, high powered wide area lighting.
