Summer is over, but for some travelers the best time to be going to southwest Colorado is now. Whether it’s the activity of viewing Colorado’s glorious fall colors, or it’s the need to just get away with friends, Gateway Canyons Resort offers special packages that help to put people right where they need to be.

Gateway Canyons Resort is located in a rural part of southwestern Colorado that has remained largely unchanged since it was first settled in the late nineteenth century. The addition of deluxe lodge rooms, fine dining, good wine, and conference facilities has only made it easier to enjoy this pristine and visually remarkable landscape. As the premier destination in this area, Gateway Canyons Resort recognizes the changing of each season with special rates tailored to specific activities. A Fall Unlimited package combines a night of lodging with unlimited horseback riding and a Canyon Colors package offers guests the opportunity to be outside in the beauty of the Fall season for a weekend. For Seniors, there is a one night special while the Girlfriends Getaway focuses on a weekend of relaxing, reconnecting with friends, and pampering spa treatments. The Motor Head package is for those travelers who are just passing through while the weather permits, with a chance to visit the world-class Gateway Colorado Auto Museum. All of these packages are time and weather sensitive, as not even the Almanac can accurately predict the week that Autumn becomes Winter.

Fall Unlimited combines one night of lodging with unlimited horseback riding from Summit School Ranch, mountain biking, disc golf, archery and fly fishing. Rates start at $150.00 per person based on double occupancy; add breakfast for a starting rate of $170.00 per person.

Canyon Colors is a package available now through October 31 and is a comprehensive quick getaway for those who wish to see the beautiful gold of the old-growth cottonwoods and the reds of the scrub oak, and to spend some time outdoors in the perfect weather of autumn. Rates start at $474.00 per person (based on double occupancy) for two nights and three days in either the Dolores River Inn or the Kiva Lodge. The package includes admission for two at the Gateway Colorado Auto Museum, a one and a half hour horseback ride for two, and one fifty minute massage or facial per person. Guests for Canyon Colors will also receive a complimentary bottle of Colorado wine and keepsake wineglasses.

Senior Getaway offers a special rate of $71.00 per person based on double occupancy and includes one night of lodging, breakfast, and two tickets to the acclaimed Gateway Colorado Auto Museum. This offer is good Wednesday through Sunday weekly.

Girlfriends Getaway is a package that is available through the end of November (Wednesday through Sunday) and is especially timely in the fall before the hectic holiday season begins. The package includes two nights and three days and rates start at $414.00 per person (Value Season and based on double occupancy.) The girls can choose lodging in either the Dolores River Inn or the Kiva Lodge. Each guest will get a fifty minute Classic Canyon massage, one Whispering Wind facial, and a special foot treatment. There will be cheese and fruit upon arrival and a complimentary bottle of Colorado wine with keepsake wineglasses.

Motor Heads will be out in force as the seasons change. Autumn is the perfect time to get in the last of the good drives on dry, open roads and to take in the magnificent colors of the varying Colorado landscapes. The Motor Head package includes one night and two days, with rates starting at $55.00 per person (Value Season and based on double occupancy.) Also included is admission for two to the world-class Gateway Colorado Auto Museum and suggested itineraries for road and dual sport trips.

After the summer tourist crowds have come and gone, the serenity of the river valleys and the quiet of the red rock canyons is once again a welcome respite for those who need a special place to rest and revive. Gateway Canyons Resort makes these seasonal retreats even more attractive with special inclusive packages that include lodging, spa treatments, outdoor activities and the opportunity for fine food and wine. The breathtaking natural beauty of the region is the best value added, but it’s impossible to put a price on those vistas.
