Empire student hairstyling competition
Beauty school students and faculty from all of Empire's 88 locations will attend the competition which takes place June 7th and 8th. Finalists, who competed and won in local hair, makeup and nail competitions, are contending for top prizes in several categories including: Long Hair Evening Design, Ladies Trend Cut and Style with Color, Make Up Artistry, Men's Hair Cut and Style and Nail Art Display. Winners from each category will earn an array of prizes such as educational workshops and the opportunity to work with industry professionals in locations across the country including New York, Las Vegas, Orlando and Baltimore. Other prizes include professional tools and products from top companies such as Redken, Great Clips, Diamond Shears, OPI, Matrix and Bodyography Professional Cosmetics.

The Expo offers students a perfect chance to network their way to possible employment leads. Helping students with career placement is a major focus for Empire. A "Career Corner" will be available for students to interview with different salon groups from all across the country including Regis Corporation's 9000+ US locations, JCPenney, Great Clips, Hair Cuttery and more!
"Turning students into licensed cosmetologists is only step one," states Franklin K. Schoeneman, CEO, Empire Education Group. "Our job isn't finished until those dream careers become reality for our students and what's really exciting to us is the fact that even in this tough economy, there are still more cosmetology jobs out their than licensed cosmetologists. How many professions we say that about right now?"
Sponsors include professional hair industry giants such as Arrojo Salon Group, Schoeneman Beauty Supply, Goldwell and Outre. More than 80 exhibitors (almost double that of last year's Expo) are attending including Conair, Logics, Milady, Nexxus, Rusk and Sally Beauty Supply.
"This is a perfect time to explore the career opportunities that exist in cosmetology," says Mr. Schoeneman. "In fact, we are seeing a number of students come to us after a layoff, or a spouse's layoff provided the impetus to finally pursue a long-abandoned dream of being a stylist or makeup artist. We are so proud to offer Empire students the means to pursue exciting job opportunities, as well as great quality of life perks that are not always easy to come by in other professions."
