Music Business Innovator Mark Wolfson Departs Playtone Records To Assume New Post
Mark Wolfson has departed from his position as director of production and development at Playtone/Epic Records to join up with a new music business venture slated to launch in early 2009. During his seven year tenure at Playtone, Wolfson was involved in projects including That Thing You Do, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mamma Mia the film.

During his seven year tenure at Playtone, Wolfson was involved in projects including That Thing You Do, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mamma Mia the film. Prior to that, through his company Reel Entertainment, LLC, which has been Wolfson's independent production company since 1986, he has developed projects like Stone Temple Pilots, Jane Child, and School of Fish. As he expands into other endeavors, Wolfson continues to maintain a strong relationship with Playtone, the film and television production company led by producer Gary Goetzman and actor Tom Hanks.

Originally from Chicago, Mark Wolfson currently divides his time between Los Angeles and New York to accommodate his bicoastal and European clientele. Throughout his impressive career, Wolfson has received over 25 Gold and Platinum record awards. Experienced in piano, cello, guitar, and vocals, Wolfson made his production debut in 1972, working with legendary artists such as Smokey Robinson, Kim Carnes, Ice T, and Talking Heads, and onthe soundtracks for films including Stop Making Sense, That Thing You Do, Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Mamma Mia, and Mi Vida Loca, to name a few.
