"Acts of self-sabotage are predictable," says Debbie, an internationally acclaimed expert on the shadow. "They arise from the repression of what I call our dark side, the aspects of ourselves and our lives that we find too embarrassing to admit, to inconvenient to accept. Our suppressed emotions and repressed urges gather strength like lava beneath the surface of the earth. If there are no steam vents at the earth's surface to release the pressure of the powerful force that is building beneath it, the only outlet comes in the form of an eruption. When our dark side is repressed out of shame, and denied out of fear, it has no choice but to erupt. This is how the shadow works. This is how every human being is designed."
The secret is learning to embrace the dark impulses, the imperfections, the mistakes and the heartache - in other words, the "shadow." As Debbie explains, "The shadow is the hidden key that unlocks a life beyond your wildest imagination, a life where you are destined to live your highest potential."
The Film - If Shadows Could Talk. This is a visually stunning and cutting-edge documentary that will inspire viewers to uncover the wisdom in their wounds, the blessings in their misfortunes, and the gifts that are waiting to be claimed where they may least expect them… in the dark. The film, with contributions from some of the most brilliant and evolutionary thinkers of the 21st century, including Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Mark Victor Hansen, James Van Praagh, and others, is a world-class cinematic experience that pulls no punches as it tells the fascinating story of why we do what we do and fear what we fear. It's a chilling and revealing inquiry into the conflicting forces of darkness and light that compete for attention within every human being.
The Workshop - Embracing Your Shadow. In this interactive one-day workshop, Debbie reveals the profound secret of the shadow and how to unlock the confidence, power, creativity and freedom to fully be our most magnificent selves. She will guide us into the heart of the duality that unknowingly operates within each one of us: the force that compels us to live by our values, and give and receive love; and the force that holds us back, sabotages our efforts and repeatedly steers us toward bad choices. Debbie will explain the origins of self-destructive behavior and the battle between our light and dark sides. Providing the tools to unlock the patterns of self-sabotage, Debbie shows us how to heal the split between light and dark, and live the authentic life that is within our reach.
