The Gator Bowl Association will host the 2009 Little Gator Bowl Pop Warner City Championships, presented by SunTrust Bank, this Sunday, November 1st, at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Four games will be played to decide the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Division One winners for the Junior Peewee, Peewee, Junior Midget and Midget leagues.

Admission is free. Fans should enter through the West Touchdown Club and park in lots J, M and N. Stadium concessions will be available.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), title sponsor of the New Year’s Day Gator Bowl Classic, will present each participant of the Little Gator Bowl with a complimentary ticket to the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl with purchase of an adult ticket. They will also be conducting a special raffle for a family four-pack of tickets to the Gator Bowl Classic during each game as they continue to show their corporate support of families in Northeast Florida.

Little Gator Bowl game schedule on Sunday, November 1st is as follows (all times Eastern):
9:00 a.m. – Junior PeeWees (ages 8-10)    Mandarin Tigers vs. Sweetwater Ravens
11:00 a.m. – PeeWees (ages 9-11)        Grand Park Trojans vs. Sweetwater Trojans
1:00 p.m. – Junior Midgets (ages 10-12)        Grand Park Jaguars vs Forestview Tigers
3:00 p.m. – Midgets (ages 11-14)        Grand Park Panthers vs Westside Wildcats

The City Champions will play the Division One winners from Mid-Florida on November 14th. Winners from that game advance to the Regional Championships in Orlando Thanksgiving weekend, with the chance to win their way to the Pop Warner National Championship game.

The Little Gator Bowl, first established in 1965, and was played in the Gator Bowl Stadium until November 13, 1993. From 1994 until 2005, the Pop Warner City Championships were played at Mandarin High School, Forest High School and First Coast High School. Currently, 21 Associations operate under the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner umbrella with over 5000 boys and girls participating.

The Gator Bowl Association and the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference have enjoyed a partnership for the last six years through the Gator Bowl’s PATCH program. “THE PATCH”, the official jersey patch of the Gator Bowl team participants, is also worn by all Pop Warner football and cheerleading participants. A college scholarship has also been established through the Gator Bowl’s PATCH program benefiting the Greater Jacksonville Pop Warner Football Conference.
