Despite these challenges, the development team at Siteworx enabled us to realize our vision on time and within budget - even when the project scope started to expand.
Reston, Virginia (PRWEB) March 2, 2009
Siteworx, Inc., one of the largest independent Web design and application development firms in metro Washington, D.C., today announced that it has completed the successful development and implementation of the re-launched Glimpse website.
Glimpse is a nonprofit organization, supported in part by National Geographic Society. Glimpse's mission is to share stories from abroad that change the way young Americans think about the overseas experience and challenge them to explore the world.
With the re-launch of its website, developed by Siteworx on the Python-based Django open source Web application framework, Glimpse now provides an engaging and interactive online forum where internationally minded youth can share their experiences and connect.
Featuring stories, photography, insider tips, and blogs created by young Americans living overseas, Glimpse.org is home to a growing community of people who think, act, and live globally.
To support this user-generated content model, Siteworx leveraged the Django Web application framework to implement a robust back-end and content management system (CMS]. Siteworx also optimized the online editorial review process through the creation of a professional editorial workflow system for the approval of user-submitted content.
"Our goals for the re-launched Glimpse website were both technologically complex and subject to an aggressive rollout schedule," said Nick Fitzhugh, Publisher & Senior Designer at Glimpse. "Despite these challenges, the development team at Siteworx enabled us to realize our vision on time and within budget - even when the project scope started to expand."
Siteworx is a recognized leader in Web 2.0 technologies and has successfully implemented a wide range of CMS solutions from SDL-Tridion, Sitecore, and Ektron, among others.
"We take pride in our ability to serve customer needs, regardless of the CMS they choose," said Nathan Bittinger, Technical Lead at Siteworx.
"Whether open source or commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), we have become a trusted advisor to many clients on CMS selection and frequently provide consultation on the pros and cons of using an open source CMS. In addition, our implementation experience with flexible and robust open source development tools such as Django has enabled us to provide clients like Glimpse with a seamless and cost-conscious Web redesign experience," continued Bittinger.
