GoAhead® Software, the worldwide leader in open standards-based high availability and management middleware, today announces that it is partnering with Global Technical Systems (GTS) and their teammate Northrop Grumman (NGC) to support the Navy’s Common Processing System program. GoAhead’s solution for Dynamic Resource Management (DRM) is a foundational component of the overall infrastructure solution provided by GTS and NGC. The DRM requirement is significant to the combat system because it ensures continuous service of warfighter systems without loss of service or data.

GoAhead’s SAFfire solution delivers on one of the key goals of the CPS architecture by ensuring the high availability of mission critical applications. GoAhead offers the only proven combat-ready and operationally proven Service Availability Forum (SAF) compliant solution in the commercial market and SAFfire adheres to the open standards of the US Navy’s Objective Architecture (OA).

The CPS team conducted a rigorous evaluation, led by Northrop Grumman, to choose the right solution for the DRM requirement. “GoAhead’s SAFfire solution outperformed all competitors in our Dynamic Resource Management evaluations,” said Mike Barrett, Director Maritime Mission Systems for NGC Integrated Systems. “We are confident that SAFfire gives the CPS team the key capabilities needed to grow with the evolving mission of our customers.”

Global Technical Systems, the CPS prime contractor, agreed with NGC’s assessment. “GoAhead Software complements the GTS team well,” said Craig Black, CPS Program Manager of GTS. “Their history of delivering mission critical high availability solutions to US Navy combat systems, coupled with their industry-leading Service Availability Forum open standards implementation, should ensure optimum performance and the lowest risk solution for our Navy customer.”

GoAhead’s success with the CPS program continues the company’s strong track record in Naval systems “We feel privileged to support the US Navy, GTS, Northrop Grumman, and the other partners on the Common Processing System program,” said Tyson Moler, Director of Federal Operations for GoAhead Software. “CPS is exciting because it brings proven, best-of-breed technologies together to support the US Navy, and all potential customers, in their common computing environment requirements.”

In addition to the CPS program, GoAhead recently announced a major milestone in its support of the Aegis Weapon System. The GoAhead solution is the first commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) resource management solution to be part of a successful Navy combat operational test.    The company’s long track of success in high availability systems combined with outstanding support for the Service Availability Forum open specifications mirrors the Navy’s approach to ensuring continuous service of warfighter systems.
