Surgeon trained at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate, brings specialties in sports medicine and reconstructive surgery to Scottsdale-based podiatry practice.

Dr. Paul Ledesma, MS, DPM, FACFAS, has joined Dr. Richard Jacoby’s renowned podiatry practice at Valley Foot Surgeons, Ltd., in Scottsdale. Dr. Ledesma relocated to the Valley from Massachusetts to begin working with Dr. Jacoby on December 1, 2009.

“As I became aware of Dr. Jacoby’s practice and his reputation, it was clear to me and my wife (who is also a practicing podiatrist) that this was an opportunity too good to pass up,” Ledesma said. “After meeting with Dr. Jacoby and observing the high level of patient care he provides, there was no question in my mind about moving across the country to be a part of this practice.”

As a practicing physician for nearly 8 years, Dr. Ledesma expects to maintain the high quality patient care Dr. Jacoby already provides, along with adding more availability to the practice’s patients. Dr. Ledesma also brings specific expertise in the areas of sports medicine and biomechanics.

He attended Barry University Podiatric Medical School in Miami Shores, FL, where he received his Master’s of Science degree and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). Dr. Ledesma’s expertise includes serving as a physical therapy technician and certified aquatic therapist, completing a 3-year podiatric and reconstructive surgical residency at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) in Cambridge, MA, and private practice in Worcester, MA.

CHA is a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate. While there, Dr. Ledesma served as chief resident, trained under Harvard physicians, and worked hand-in-hand with medical residents on a daily basis. He gained extensive knowledge and methods of treatment for complex disorders such as diabetes and other common ailments. As part of his teaching duties, he was also responsible for educating physicians as well as residents from other medical specialties in the form of lectures, presentations, and clinical shadowing.

“My surgical training and private practice experience ensures I am capable of evaluating and treating issues requiring reconstructive surgery/limb salvage, such as severe flatfoot and Cavus (high arch) foot, end stage arthritis, and diabetic Charcot,” Ledesma said. “I am also well versed on the most current medical technology available to aid in addressing these problems surgically.”

Dr. Richard Jacoby welcomes Dr. Ledesma and his varied expertise into the Valley Foot Surgeons family. “We are very pleased that Dr. Ledesma has chosen to join Valley Foot Surgeons in our commitment to providing quality podiatric care,” Jacoby said. “His extraordinary talents in surgical care, and specifically his focus in sports medicine and reconstructive surgery, will be an asset to the practice and an added benefit to Valley residents needing his expertise.”
