SoundOfMotion launches VeloComputer, an advanced cycling computer application at Nokia's OVI application store for the Nokia N97 and N97 mini. The N97 series features an advanced GPS and accelerometer. When these components are combined with its light weight and sporty multimedia interface and its ability to truly multitask, it becomes a formidable platform for the next generation of mobile applications.

The VeloComputer application transforms mobile phones with accelerometers and GPS into advanced cycling computer complete with current, maximum and average speed; acceleration, cadence, altitude, trip tracking and VeloTones for audible performance feedback. Speed, acceleration, cadence and altitude are critical for cyclists to improve their endurance and race technique.

"Strap your phone on your leg with a sport holster or just put it in the pocket of your cycling shorts and get cadence from the built-in accelerometer, while you receive speed and distance from the GPS," explains Vlad Savchenko, Founder and CEO of SoundOfMotion. "When pedaling, the built-in accelerometer detects the up and down motion of the leg and calculates cadence in rotations per minute (RPM). This technology frees the bicycle from any cadence sensors attached to the crank."

Unlike other applications, VeloComputer is designed and tested to work in the background while other programs and functions are running on your phone. Even if your training is interrupted like phone calls or messages, VeloComputer continues to record your ride data flawlessly. All cycling data, including your GPS route and cadence, is recorded on the phone and can be uploaded to Google Earth for trip tracking and performance analysis.

The VeloComputer uses VeloTones for audible speed and cadence monitoring.. With VeloTones, cyclist can determine their speed, acceleration and cadence level with customized sounds played through the phone's speakers or over a headset. Help keep your focus on the road and your mind in the game with VeloTones.

Additionally, the VeloComputer is ready for the upcoming 1-degree precision bluetooth wheel sensor designed by SoundOfMotion. This unique sensing technology, originally created for an electronic compass, is at least 360 times more accurate then traditional cycling computers.

The production of the bluetooth low energy sensor is planned for Q2 2010. Pre-orders are open at http://www.velocomputer.com. Users, who purchase the VeloComputer application before January 31st, 2010 will receive 25% off the sensor's published price. Please, include your receipt when placing a pre-order to claim the discount.

The VeloComputer is available for the Nokia N97 and N97 mini at http://www.ovi.com. In addition to the recently added Nokia platform the VeloComputer is available on: Android, BlackBerry, LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson from http://www.VeloComputer.com
