Melanie Hahn Roche will teach a workshop on The Fundamentals of Brennan Healing Science at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, MA, January 22-24, 2010. Founded by Dr. Barbara Brennan, a former NASA physicist, Brennan Healing Science bridges conventional allopathic medicine and complementary and alternative mind-body-spirit bodywork and hands-on healing modalities.

The Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health features workshops by such well known presenters as Deepak Chopra, Julia Cameron, Joan Borysenko and Melanie Hahn Roche. Brennan Healing Science has garnered attention as prominent doctors such as Mehmet Oz, MD have used Brennan healers in operating rooms and as adjuncts to treatment. With healthcare costs and the reform of the healthcare system a national priority in recent months, this “hands of light” healing modality offers promising results in decreased recovery times from surgical procedures, less pain, less need for pain medication and less time off from work so decreased absenteeism when Brennan Healing Science is used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments, preliminary studies find. Melanie Hahn Roche, MA (http://www.MelanieHahn.com) is a healer in private practice and serves on the Faculty of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing in Miami, FL. (http://www.barbarabrennnan.com). She is one of only a handful of teachers who has taught in two campuses of this four year college of healing, in Miami and Tokyo. Ms. Roche describes how she came to Brennan Healing as a patient: “I had a lump in my breast at age 33 that looked ‘suspicious’ in the needle aspiration.” A single session with a Brennan healer changed her life. “I definitely felt something happening,” Roche states. “Afterwards, as I walked to a park, babies were reaching out to me from their strollers, as if to say, ‘Pick me up. Play with me.’ Dogs were running up to me on their leashes as if to say, ‘Pet me.’ I remember I sat down in the park and looked at the river. The way the sunlight glinted on the water and the way the wind blew through the trees, I felt, Oh. The universe exists at a certain tempo, a certain rhythm, a certain frequency, and I’m back in alignment with that frequency, having never known I was out of alignment before.” A few days later, she says, she had the lump surgically removed. “The cells came back normal. I can’t prove it was from that one healing, but it definitely aroused my curiosity; I wanted to know more.” That was 10 years ago, and Roche began working with the healer regularly and eventually began her 8 years of study at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, despite already having a Master’s degree from New York University and a B.A. from Columbia University. In her second year of training, Roche states that she knew she wanted to become adept at this work and teach at the School, a highly competitive process. Roche states that she is thrilled to offer this workshop at Kripalu as the retreat center is an excellent fit for Brennan Healing Science. In this workshop, Roche will lead participants in an exploration of this system of energy work that combines hands-on healing techniques with spiritual and psychological processes. Participants will learn how to work with energy for healing and open their ability to perceive the human energy field. Through lecture, meditation, group and individual exercises, Roche will guide participants in understanding: the anatomy and physiology of the energy field, termed by Brennan “the human energy consciousness system”; how to perceive the energy field; energy exercises to keep your own energy field healthy, balanced and energized; simple self-healing techniques; psychometry: using high-sense perception to intuit issues being worked with by owners of personal objects; and ways to integrate this knowledge into daily life.
