Alexandria, Va. (PRWEB) January 6, 2010

Talk about starting the New Year with a bang! Hilton Alexandria's $10,000 meeting bailout was transformed overnight into a $25,000 giveaway thanks to support from the Hilton Hotels brand. In early July, the hotel announced it would give away a $10,000 meeting to help stimulate the local Alexandria economy.

In this turbulent economic climate it was the hotel's mission to give back to those in the community who were not just surviving, but thriving in the current economy. Their mission was to find one company that was planning a meeting critical to stimulating future business for their company, a meeting that benefited the local Alexandria economy, or to reward an organization with deep local and national charitable roots.

Hilton Alexandria Old Town General Manager Kevin Brockway and Director of Sales and Marketing Stephanie Snapkoski were so overwhelmed with responses that they solicited help from Alexandria Mayor, William D. Euille, Lorraine Lloyd, Vice President of Sales for the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association and representatives of the Hilton Hotels brand. The final three candidates were brought to the hotel and asked to communicate the goals of their organizations and what they hoped to achieve if they were to win a $10,000 meeting. The three candidates were, Volunteer Alexandria, an organization committed to building a better community by inspiring and mobilizing people to volunteer; Volunteers of America, a national nonprofit, spiritually-based organization providing local human service programs and the opportunity for individual and community involvement; and For Goodness Sake, Inc., a non-profit organization that produces events to raise funds and awareness for issues effecting women and children.

Volunteers of America they selected as winner of the free meeting giveaway, but there were no losers. Hilton Hotels contributed an additional $5,000 to each, finalist, including Volunteers of America, to help make their meeting dreams a reality.
