Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) January 6, 2010
ACH Child and Family Services, formerly All Church Home for Children (ACH), has received a $1.5 million pledge from the Paul E. Andrews, Jr. Foundation for improvements on its new Wichita Street Campus in southeast Fort Worth. Scheduled for completion in 2012, the campus will be a refuge for children from abuse, neglect, and family struggles. The Foundation's pledge is the largest philanthropic gift to ACH's $9.5 million Home Improvements Campaign; $3.3 million has been pledged or gifted to the campaign to date.
"We were thrilled and humbled to receive this pledge from the Andrews Foundation," said ACH CEO Wayne Carson, Ph.D. "It will significantly move our fundraising efforts forward while ensuring that the initial renovations of the Wichita Street Campus are able to be completed in this phase as planned."
"We are very pleased to be a part of ACH Child and Family Services and glad we are able to help in this important effort for children and Fort Worth," said Paul E. Andrews, Jr.
The Wichita Street Campus at 3712 Wichita Street is a 19.5-acre site within the 200 acres previously known as the Masonic Home and School of Texas. The renovation entails nine buildings and some new construction. The property's historic buildings encompass approximately 126,860 sq. ft., including a spectacular cut-stone chapel built by the Masons in 1954, an administration building, offices, a residence hall, cafeteria, elementary school, and auditorium. Michael and Valerie Mallick donated the property to ACH in 2008. Architect of record is Hahnfeld, Hoffer Stanford of Fort Worth, and construction manager is Linbeck, Fort Worth.
Established in 1915, ACH Child and Family Services protects children from abuse, neglect, and family separation and helps children overcome these things when they do happen. Without help, the long-term impact of abuse and neglect on children can prevent them from living healthy, productive lives. In 2008, ACH served more than 3,500 children on its three campuses and through satellite offices in nine counties: Erath, Hill, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Palo Pinto, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise.
