Grady Means, best-selling author of both "MetaCapitalism" and "The Wisdom of the CEO", turns his relentless logic and constructively confrontational style from business to contemporary world religions. "The New Enlightenment" presents a compelling solution to the myriad of religious-based conflicts raging across the world today. By arguing for a New Enlightenment, Means reasons that religions should become more reasonable and come together to achieve their common goals of purpose and spiritual guidance. Reminiscent of the Enlightenment, Means uses language and ideas similar to 18th Century writers – including American founders such as Washington and Jefferson – to advise caution in mixing doctrinal religion with politics:

  •     Modern religions are not meeting the spiritual needs of mankind and need to be reformed.
  •     A business and economic model (Theonomics) can be helpful in explaining and predicting how and why modern religions are organized, packaged and marketed the way that they are.
  •     A return to Reason, similar to that during the first Enlightenment, is necessary to prevent continued religious conflict and cultural destruction.

Author Means comes to the conclusion that enduring religious, political and cultural peace must come from finding spiritual fulfillment through the human mind and soul. By shedding the traditional political and economic elements of organized religion that produce extremism, violence and war, all people can come together under the universal experience of human spirituality. With mankind’s long history of religious violence and escalating holy wars, The New Enlightenment has never been more needed.
