Tampa, FL (PRWEB) January 15, 2010
This New Year will bring about changes in Florida’s boating laws.
Effective Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, Florida boat operators born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 must complete and pass an approved boating safety education course to operate a motorboat of 10 horsepower or more. Boaters in this age group must have in their possession photographic identification (i.e. driver’s license) and a Boating Safety Education I.D. Card.
The exciting news is Florida residents will have access to the new animated, interactive BoaterExam.com boater safety education course that meets these new requirements and can be completed entirely on-line when it’s convenient to do so.
The BoaterExam.com course participants can learn about boating safety in a narrative fashion with more than 300 original illustrations and 150 animated video clips by means of the on-line study guide. Once students successfully complete the study guide and chapter quizzes there is an ‘unlimited practice’ exam where they must effectively pass a 60 question final certification exam, also on-line.
Students will have access to BoaterExam.com’s industry exclusive toll-free customer service help line (1-866-764-2628) from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. (central), seven days a week.
“Boaterexam.com is extremely excited and proud to provide a convenient alternative to classroom instruction for all Floridians,” said Kerry Moher, vice president, BoaterExam.com. “Our on-line study guide has more than 150 animations and practice quizzes that will better prepare students to successfully complete the final exam.” added Mr. Moher.
This boating education course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), recognized by the US Coast Guard and covers 100 percent of the state’s exam requirements.
The BoaterExam.com course and final exam is free: students pay a one-time fee of $29.95 only when they pass the final exam to obtain their official results. The permanent Boating Safety Education I.D. Card (often mistakenly referred to as a ‘boating license’) is issued by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and arrives by mail within 1-2 weeks. The Certificate is good for life and never needs to be renewed.
