The "You Create - We Build" winning fixture to be featured at 2010 Light Fair

Millerbernd Lighting announces F. M. Carroll of Dallas, Texas as the 2009 Custom Lighting Design Contest winner. His winning fixture highlighted the benefits and flexibility of LED lighting coupled with an innovative Dark Sky outdoor design.

F.M. Carroll will be receiving an all-expense paid trip to 2010 Light Fair in Las Vegas, Nevada; $1,000 in cash; and potential royalties on the sale of the fixture. “It was great to create a fixture in an environment that was almost boundless and as a bonus aimed extending LED technology into a technical edgy and forward thinking design,” stated F.M. Carroll. “I’m looking forward to seeing my creation turn into reality.”

The contest was promoted nationally through Millerbernd Lighting's 425+ sales representatives, and was open to architects, engineers, and designers—either professional or amateur. To qualify as one of the finalist, the design must have incorporated LED lighting, metal fabrication, outdoor application and fit within a 30" cube.

"This was a great opportunity for me to connect with our sales network across the country." said Mitch Gaida, Millerbernd Lighting’s national sales director. "My hats-off to this year’s winning fixture. It truly exemplified both form and function.”

F.M. Carroll’s designed a unique post-top walk-way fixture utilizing a 30 Watt LED engine. Their decorative fixture design included an edge lit acrylic disc and direct walk-way illumination. In addition, the fixture provided for savings in lamp replacement costs and reduction in energy consumption. Incorporating Dark Sky compliancy requirements, the light output was focused on the walk-way as intended; and LED engine used provided higher Color Rendering index for crisp clear illumination.

"It’s quite obvious that the next generation of lighting is here. LED Lighting designers and engineers are creating lighting solutions in ways never before imagined." said Brad Millerbernd, CEO of Millerbernd Lighting. "We look forward to the opportunity to custom fabricate F.M. Carroll’s innovative design and display it in our booth # 2367 at the 2010 Light Fair."
