Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 16, 2010

Band1420 is set to impact the radio waves with their first single “Way You Do” from their debut CD “Exit Visa From Pottersville” on January 19, 2010.

Not only does “Way You Do” recall the magic and mystery of love wrapped in a great melody and hook, it captures the flavor of Austin on a summer eve while driving through the hill country on a starry night with the top down and your friends singing the chorus at the top of their voices as you head towards Hamilton Pool to cut through the heat with a swim in the cool waters.

“Exit Visa From Pottersville” has previously been through an eight week Americana/Roots radio campaign targeting college, independent and internet stations throughout the world. The CD was added to the libraries of 23 stations, with 12 stations not only spinning “Way You Do”, but they also found “Truly”, “Leave Me No More Lonely Than I Am”, “Amazin’ Wonder Blues” and “Never Near (Misery)” worthy of moderate and light rotation. But it was “Way You Do” that achieved the most attention. In addition, the band is pleased that “Truly” is on permanent rotation at Austin Bergstom International Airport.

And “Exit Visa From Pottersville” has garnered these reviews:

"Great stuff. Hot spins." - Lee Bilski, WSPN 91.9 FM, Saratoga Springs, NY

"Band1420 has a lot of potential for airplay. They kind of run the whole gamut of musical styles. From folk to blues to rock." - Dan Alloway, KTEP 88.5 FM, El Paso, TX

"Band1420 is great…" - Mike Flynn, KUAF 91.3 FM, Fayetteville, AR

"I liked Band1420 very much, some really good songs..." - Warren Fuller, 2NURfm, Australia

Band1420 is a platform for recording and performing the musical works of Rory Nickell. The band’s composition is designed to be flexible to meet these two purposes. For performances Rory has put together a trio to perform in the genre of the singer/songwriter but, with the beat of a band, like an updated version of Buddy Holly’s Texas style Americana. For recording projects Rory takes the view that it’s all about adding to the mix the many musical flavors of Austin and Texas to bring out the best of each song. In the end it’s really about making good records with talented people and having great songs to perform with, and for, good friends.

Frequently Asked Questions of Rory:
Why “band1420”? Well, I thought of calling the band “Gutentoggleswitches” but, it was bad German, a bad pun and most likely I would have run afoul of the International Toggle Switchers of America. If you’re still interested you might search for “1420 mhz” on the web.

Why “Exit Visa From Pottersville”? I refer you to Frank Capra’s “It’s A Wonderful Life”. In particular the fantasy scene in which Clarence, the angel, shows George Bailey what the world would have been like as Pottersville if George hadn’t been born to help create Bedford Falls. The cover art depicts the moment, not in the beginning of the scene when George is driven by despair but, rather the moment when he discovers hope again from the experience.

"Band 1420 has that sound that pulls you in, and you want to hear over and over. I think that is one reason it was so popular during our radio promotion to roots radio stations. We are excited about promoting Way You Do to FMQB Adult Contemporary radio. It is such a fresh upbeat song to start the year. I challenge anyone to hear it once and keep from humming it all day!" - June Caldwell (Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion)
