"DNS Insight addresses the number one issue facing opt-in email database providers: deliverability."
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) January 19, 2010
Marigold Technologies has launched DNS Insight, a new service for the email marketing industry. DNS Insight uses a powerful new IP-address validation tool to improve email deliverability and allow creative segmentation of email marketing lists.
"DNS Insight addresses the number one issue facing opt-in email database providers: deliverability," said Blake Sitney, president and CEO of Marigold Technologies. "By finding and removing questionable email addresses, we can help email marketing companies enhance deliverability and response rates and maintain the highest level of integrity and service."
During pre-launch testing, DNS Insight examined a 6-million record data file of US consumers and found thousands of suspicious records, including 8,000 customer records all linked to a server in China.
"The opt-ins for these records were most likely carried out by some sort of automated process or bot," Sitney said. "DNS Insight flagged them, allowing the database owner to remove the records.”
Finding and removing invalid records is increasingly important for email broadcasters because it allows them to avoid hard bounces from inactive IP addresses. “Too many hard bounces can damage a sender’s reputation or result in blacklisting by spam-blocking services,” Sitney said. “In addition, a fresh, well-maintained list yields a much better response rate.”
DNS Insight is breaking new ground in using IP address information as a source of valuable data for email marketing. IP address data, part of the information captured whenever an online customer opts in to receive email messages, indicates the ISP or carrier network the customer uses.
For valid IP addresses, DNS Insight is able to capture the fully qualified domain name of each IP address along with the carrier network to which the IP address belongs. With these new data elements appended to customer records, it's possible for marketers to develop campaigns that target customers by specific network, such as cable, DSL, or dial-up. It is also possible in many countries to segment lists by networks that serve educational or government institutions, businesses, or residences.
With a database approaching 2.2 billion IP addresses, DNS Insight is capable of validating and capturing information on IP addresses worldwide.
"This powerful new layer of insight enables more efficient delivery of email through networks and gets a company's communications to the users they really want to reach, said Steven Rand of Venture Development Center, Inc., a New Jersey firm that is a key partner in launching DENS Insight’s services. “In addition, DNS Insight can provide intelligence on installed technology that manages a domain address, as well as monitor technology changes over time by identifying when new technologies are licensed or purchased."
Sales for DNS Insight are handled through parent company Marigold Technologies.
