Atlassian today announced that its advanced enterprise wiki Confluence was named “Best Social Learning Tool” by Elearning! Magazine in the 2009 “Best of Elearning!” competition. Voters praised the software for its “excellent integration with LMS” and its ability to “be done from an enterprise IT system.”
Confluence beat out Ning and Facebook to win the award. Confluence combines powerful online authoring capabilities, deep Office integration and an extensive plugin catalog to help people work better together and share information effortlessly. Hundreds of universities and state colleges use Confluence for classroom learning, sharing of instructor resources, knowledge management, documentation, as university-wide intranets and classroom and campus administration.
Elearning! Media Group hosts the only Readers' Choice Awards for the e-learning market. Learning executives selected 55 products across 16 categories for excellence. These honorees are recognized in the January '10 edition of Elearning! and Government Elearning! Magazine.
According to the review of the software on the Elearning! website, “Confluence is a simple, powerful wiki that lets you create and share pages, documents and rich content with your team. If you’re looking for a better way to collaborate, Confluence has the essential enterprise features for your organization. With Confluence, you discover and add dozens of macros, share your status and build your network.”
In addition to the Elearning! award, Atlassian was also named a runner-up in this year’s Crunchies, an annual competition and award ceremony hosted by GigaOM, VentureBeat and TechCrunch that recognizes the most compelling startups, internet and technology innovations of the year.
