Sarah Ehrlich, founder of the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization, Help For Orphans, (helpfororphans.com) is available for interviews this week, before she heads down to Haiti to implement a makeshift orphanage. Armed with hundreds of tents, sleeping bags, baby formula and insect repellent, Sarah has been working round the clock to raise vital funding for the dazed and confused children of Haiti, many of whom are aimlessly walking the streets with no food or shelter.

Amid all the problems facing Haiti as it struggles to emerge from the earthquake's rubble, the future of its children is the most difficult one to deal with. "The larger organizations can only do so much," acknowledged Ehrlich. "They just don't have enough resources to manage a disaster of this proportion. This is why it is just so important for organizations like Help For Orphans to reach out to the kids who have been stripped of their families and say, 'please, come with us. We have a clean bed and can give you water. We can help you.'"

In the next few weeks, Sarah hopes to open a school for homeless orphans. "Most of these children do not have opportunities now, and a school would go a long way in providing much needed hope."

Since 2005, Help for Orphans International provided much needed food, shelter and educational facilities for orphans around the world. The organization now features mobile text giving, where the consumer can text to 20222 and write "support orphans" to donate $5 to the organization.

Talking points:

How mobile text giving is an immediate effective way of raising monies

Sarah and her volunteers are flying in with a pilot through the Dominican Republic, as the Haitian airport is simply overloaded

The inefficiencies of large charity organizations

The difficulties of starting orphanages, schools, etc. in Third World countries.
