The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying,"as frustrating it is to have so little real information about toxic Chinese, or domestic drywall, it is even more frustrating to know that President Obama and the US Congress have really failed their country, in what the group calls the worst environmental disaster in US history, for US homeowners." The group thinks toxic Chinese drywall was first introduced to the US as early as 2001, or possibly earlier. The absolutely pathetic US Consumer Products Safety Commission says the following on their web site," CPSC has received about 2,810 reports from residents in 36 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico who believe their health symptoms or the corrosion of certain metal components in their homes are related to the presence of drywall produced in China. State and local authorities have also received similar reports." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says,"the problem with the US Consumer Products Safety Commission is they say they have only heard from 2810 homeowners in 36 US States & Puerto Rico? We could get more than that number of toxic Chinese drywall homes just out of Fort Meyers, Florida alone. If they say they have it in 36 US States-lets just start acting like its in all 50 states-and we need to know what are the health issues related to long term exposure-now." Problems On The Horizon-Update: The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says," there is no such thing as a 100% sure fire test to determine drywall toxicity in a home. Toxicity testing has to include sulfides & formaldehyde. We think this disaster first became apparent in the US Southeast in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Virginia & Southeast Texas, because these states have some of the highest humidity levels in the US." The group is saying,"what about the other 45 states? We think we now have discovered toxic drywall in California, Nevada, Indiana. Why is the federal government not doing a better job for these homeowners? A DMV type federal approach is not needed-leadership is needed." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is blasting President Obama for his failure to lead in this crisis. " The US Consumer Product Safety Commission admits Chinese drywall is corroding copper-but no mention of health effects of those who live in the homes, including children?" The other issue of great concern is new, remodeled, or homes that suffered storm damage since 2000-that have intermixed drywall-good-with bad.
What are the signs, symptoms or indicators of toxic Chinese Drywall? The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "in Florida, the US Southeast, Virginia, or other states known to have toxic Chinese drywall, the four biggest symptoms/indicators of toxic Chinese drywall we hear are, air conditioning coil failures, failed electrical appliances/flickering lights, black copper, combined with health side effects that include non stop upper respiratory problems, to severe headaches, to nose bleeds, to all sorts of strange rashes." But what about that sulphur smell? The group says, "Some homes have the sulphur smell, some do not. We do not think that the smell of sulphur is necessarily the best indicator for toxic Chinese drywall. We think a far better indicator for homes, at least in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Southeast Texas, Mississippi, Virginia, or other humid, warm states are air conditioning coil failures, electrical problems, combined with all, or some of the homeowner's family are sick. The time lines are 2001 to early 2009." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying," we fear homeowners in subdivisions, or condominiums are not talking to each other, or sharing information with each other. We still want to hear from homeowners with Knauf Tianjin, because we fear neighbors, never shared deadline information with other neighbors during the holidays. Instead of having 2000 signed up, there could be 20,000 homes that qualify." The group is saying,"if you have Chinese drywall in your homes we want to hear from you, or your neighbors. If you have domestic drywall in your home, and you are sick when you are in the house-and not sick when you are not---let us know who you are. We will try to help you figure this out." How can someone check to see what type of drywall is in their home. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "this is a very inexact science. The easiest way to check to see if you have toxic Chinese drywall in your home is to carefully check to see what is written on the back of your attics drywall, and give us a call-do not start tearing out drywall-until we know it safe to do." Note to involved national, regional, or local homebuilders from the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center,"now would be a real good time to stop pointing fiingers. We did not install toxic Chinese drywall/tainted drywall in 100,000's of US homes to save a buck, we were not involved in hiring the undocumented labor, used in many to most cases to install it-and it was not us, that failed in many to most cases see to it that the your undocumented labor force paid applicable federal taxes. Why start a bar fight you have already lost?"
