DreamInCode.net, a popular programming and web development community, has announced their "52 Weeks of Code" challenge. The challenge showcases different programming languages, technologies, and API's each week and encourages students and professionals to "give it a shot."

"52 Weeks of Code" challenges developers to learn new languages, new technologies, and become better programmers. "We want our members to step outside their comfort zone and try something new." says Richard McCutchen, a Dream.In.Code administrator. There have already been four challenges in the series including jQuery, XNA, Twitter API, and Python. McCutchen says future challenges will showcase Ruby on Rails, Haskell, Java, C++, VB.NET, C#, Google Maps API, Android, iPhone, JavaME, Azure, Silverlight, GIT/SVN and many more languages and technologies.

Dream.In.Code is also inviting developers to submit their own challenges for their favorite language or technology. Several members have already contributed ideas for challenges including C++ QT, Scheme, PHP, Spring, Clojure, OpenGL and others. "We'll be doing 10-15 special challenges with prizes and swag and an occasional 'detour' graphic design challenge" says McCutchen.

New challenges are announced every Monday morning, but are not time limited. Participants can complete any challenge at any time. All the challenges and more information on "52 Weeks of Code" can be found at this URL: http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/showforum126.htm
