Madison, CT (PRWEB) January 29, 2010
PowerPhone, Inc., a leading provider of 911 training and technology, recognized the professional accomplishment of 911 Dispatcher Alexia Feasel of the Tiffin Ohio Police Department, during an award ceremony held in her honor.
On Monday, December 28th, 2009, Dispatcher Feasel received a frantic 911 call from a woman attempting to save an unconscious choking victim. Recognizing the importance of swift action, Dispatcher Feasel utilized her Emergency Medical Dispatch training experience and instructed the caller through the Heimlich maneuver. Through Ms. Feasel’s continuous direction, the caller successfully dislodged a piece of food from the victim’s throat. Emergency personnel arrived shortly after the victim regained consciousness, and finding no injuries, concluded she did not require further medical attention.
“Through her calm demeanor, judgment and effective use of her emergency medical training, Ms. Feasel was instrumental in saving this woman’s life,” said PowerPhone CEO Chris Salafia. “Dispatchers such as Alexia are an utterly essential part of the public safety community, and we are proud to highlight her remarkable achievement.”
The award ceremony was conducted during PowerPhone’s Emergency Medical Dispatch training program at the Hardin County 911 Center, in Kenton, OH on January 26th. The plaque was presented by Scot Sorensen, a PowerPhone EMD instructor.
In addition to PowerPhone’s Dispatcher Recognition award, Alexia Feasel was honored with the Tiffin Police Department’s "Life Saving" award, presented by Mayor James W. Boroff at the Tiffin City Council meeting on January 18th.
