Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 31, 2010
Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware, a supporter of Jonathan’s Place, is helping abused and neglected children during Super Bowl Week. Jonathan’s Place is a “home-style” emergency shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children and a Foster & Adoptive Family Program located in Northeast Dallas County.
In conjunction with Pepsi and the NFL, Ware is one of three current NFL players that are helping Pepsi launch its “Refresh Everything” campaign during the week leading up to Super Bowl XLIV. In connection with Pepsi’s desire to make the Earth a better place by “Refreshing Everything”, each of the three players has chosen a charity that is close to their hearts to work with during the campaign. Ware chose Jonathan’s Place as his charity.
Voting begins today and remains in place through 12:00am on February 5. Fans will have the opportunity to go to the NFL’s site, view the videos and vote on which player’s charity they think is the most deserving. The player and charity that receives the most votes during that week will receive a $100,000 grant from Pepsi. The other two charities will each receive $25,000 grants. To cast your vote, visit http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=refresh-project and watch videos of each player talk about their respective charity.
Ware became involved with Jonathan’s Place about two years ago and has consistently provided support to children living there. For the past two years, he and his wife, Taniqua, have helped ensure the Jonathan’s Place kids have the best Christmas of their young lives. The Wares have gone above and beyond the call to support Jonathan’s Place and their little ones.
About Jonathan’s Place
For 15 years, Jonathan’s Place has been taking care of the Dallas area’s youngest victims of abuse. Jonathan’s Place provides this care through two programs – a “home-style” emergency shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children and a Foster & Adoptive Family Program. The emergency shelter provides specialized services and 24-hour residential care for children age newborn to 17 years and is the only emergency shelter in Dallas County that provides residential services for children in crisis under the age of 10. In the Foster & Adoptive Family Program, Jonathan’s Place recruits potential foster and adoptive families, conducts a comprehensive training program and verifies the families as either foster or foster-to-adopt families. At this point, Jonathan’s Place works with CPS to place children into the care of these families. Jonathan’s Place is the only organization in Dallas (and one of only a few organizations in the State of Texas) that provides continued care from crisis placement in an emergency shelter to placement with a foster family to, ultimately, adoption.
