Getting a Foot in the Door at the Court of Appeal
Woodland Hills, CA (PRWEB) February 1, 2010
Granada Hills, CA (Martindale-Hubbell Newswire/PRWeb) February 1, 2010 -- Tamila Jensen, an accomplished attorney who has been practicing law in California for more than three decades, has made available a practical guide to how Californians can more effectively navigate the appellate court system.
The new article, "Getting a Foot in the Door at the Court of Appeal," is available for free download on Jensen's Web site.
"Under California law, the right to appeal in civil sections is entirely a creature of statute," writes Jensen. "This means that the legislature controls the right to appeal and a court cannot create a right to appeal that isn't created by the statute. It also means that the court cannot limit a right to appeal that has been conferred by the legislature."
Jensen is a native Californian who has practiced law for 34 years. She is also a law professor and published author on real estate law, as well as a variety of other legal topics.
"My goal with this resource is to take some of the mystery out of the appellate courts process in California and to help people better understand their rights if they are parties to litigation that is subject to appeal," said Jensen. "Whether the matter is a family law dispute, a real estate matter, an estate planning concern or some other civil litigation, there are some important things that Californians can do to get a foot in the door at the Court of Appeal."
