Boston sees its first "green" wedding showcase.

Go Green! The green initiatives that are making great strides all around the world are not without face and presence in wedding and special event planning. Boston is pleased to announce the first green wedding showcase. Sustainability, carbon footprint consciousness, diligence in terms of choice and selection regarding earthly impact are immensely important. For the elegantly green, and white, wedding this showcase provides environmentally sound education for newly engaged couples on how to plan a less wasteful wedding day with flair.

Many publications such as Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides Magazine, and The Knot Magazine frequently run press and blog segments regarding the planning of eco-chic weddings. As hosts of this show, Pure enV Planning (eco-conscious wedding planning) and SEAMS Couture are proud to announce support and backing of Kate Harrison's book titled The Green Bride Guide: How to Plan an Earth Friendly Wedding on Any Budget. Kate will be available at the show for a book signing during the show.

When"always and forevers" are said, it's easy to have a beautiful event that's kind to the Earth. Whether planning a traditional, modern or same sex marriage, this showcase presents eco-savvy wedding services such as Faxon Green, Dependable Cleaners, American Laser Centers, Authentic Eye, Elegant Venues, Green Diva Bridal, Green Spot Studios, Heather Fuller Photography, I Do Video Services, Justin Alexander's PURE., Shubrah Designs and more to create a fabulous wedding day. No matter how eco-friendly someone is, this show will give people everything they need to plan their eco-chic wedding. The Elegantly Green Wedding Showcase will provide all newly engaged couples with continuing green education.

The merchants at the show are required to fulfill one or more of the following categories to participate:

  •     "Reduce, Re-use, Recycle" or has a waste reduction policy.
  •     Offers Local and/or sustainable options.
  •     Has a water and energy saving policy.
  •     Offsets the businesses carbon footprint.
  •     Fair Labor Practices.
  •     Kind to animals.

In lieu of the typical fashion show, there will be an informal fashion show where the models will be walking the floor and talking about the designs they're wearing. Fifteen minute educational seminars will run every half an hour for the duration of the show. Guests will learn about how to green different parts of their wedding. The Hyatt will host site tours of their facility. After the show, guests can enjoy the Hyatt's Valentine's Day dinner special, a three-course meal, at a 10% discount per person. Staying at the Hyatt overnight allows complimentary entrance to the show.

The "Chillax Lounge" is a great place for a significant other to de-stress. There they can have a cocktail and a bite to eat, play a game on the Wii (restrictions apply) and listen to some great music from the Good Time Swing Band. It is also a great place for everyone to hang out after checking out the show and picking up eco-swag bags.

Thanks to Carbonfund, the Elegantly Green Wedding Showcase will be reducing its Carbon Footprint by participating in the Carbon Offset Program. Carbonfund supports renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation while helping companies and individuals reduce their carbon output.
