In the latest episode of "Advancing Your Photography," Marc Silber sits down with veteran rock 'n' roll photographer Michael Zagaris. The current episode on http://www.SilberStudios.Tv features Zagaris discussing his signature style, plus unique tips on how other photographers can improve their own craft.
As one of the most recognizable names in both the photography and music worlds, Michael Zagaris has shot some of the most amazing bands and artists in the world. He has served as the band photographer for acts like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who, and is currently the team photographer for the San Francisco Forty-Niners and the Oakland A's. In fact, many of the 2010 Grammy nominees appear in his images: from Carlos Santana, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton, to Madonna, Bono and Bruce Springsteen (who recently won the award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance).
During the interview, Zagaris (http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/michael-zagaris/graphic-artist.html) describes his ultimate goals in photography as being much more than just taking pictures. Known as the "inside-out shooter," Zagaris pioneers an approach that requires a photographer to actually "become what you shoot."
The key to taking great images, he says, is focusing on what matters. "Shoot what really moves you, and shoot what you feel," he says. "Something that really resonates with you, because chances are if it moves you, its gonna move some other people too."
Marc Silber, a professional photographer himself, is the host of “Advancing Your Photography” where the world’s most accomplished artists and photographers are interviewed to find out what makes them tick, what makes them click, and what makes them so good at what they do.
Previous episodes of AYP have included intimate interviews and insights from photographers in every area of expertise. From the fields of documentary and combat to sports and fashion, http://www.SilberStudios.Tv offers a behind-the-scenes look at some of the industry's leading professionals.
