C. Cretors and Company, the leading designer and manufacturer of food processing and concession equipment, announced that Chicago City Council Alderman Richard F. “Dick” Mell and Carl Gallman, president of District 8, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), AFL-CIO, will be keynote speakers at Cretors’ 125th anniversary celebration kickoff media reception on February 4, 2010.
Alderman Mell and Mr. Gallman will be speaking about the 5th generation Chicago company’s value as a local growth-sustaining business that provides jobs and revenue to the city.
“C. Cretors and Co is truly a Chicago treasure, and a testament to business longevity,” said Alderman Mell. “The concession industry, which has grown into a business powerhouse, would be a much different industry today without Cretors’ leadership. I am proud to be part of this celebration.”
Alderman Mell has served as 33rd Ward Alderman since 1975. He currently serves as Chairman of the Chicago City Council’s Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics and is a member of the Committees on Budget and Governmental Operations, Finance, Health, Housing & Land Acquisition, Human Relations and Traffic Control and Safety.
IAMAW president Gallman commented, “It gives me great pleasure to celebrate with Cretors, a proud union shop whose workers bring tremendous value to Chicago manufacturing firms. Cretors is known for working cooperatively with its union and offering excellent working conditions. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to represent the union as we recognize Cretors and the concession industry.”
Chicago media, government, business, community, and union leaders have been invited to help recognize and celebrate the concession industry as an integral part of the entertainment business. The media and community gathering kicks off the upcoming 125th anniversary celebration, which culminates in a gala benefit and celebration on May 20, 2010 at the Museum of Science and Industry.
