Asher Group announced today new technology to support emergency notification calls: two-way SMS messaging. SMS is established as a way to contact large groups of people in an emergency, especially on college campuses. However, until now, no mass emergency notification system has created a way for the call recipient to respond via SMS. Consider this horrible but not unheard of scenario: a shooter has entered a college classroom and is holding some number of students hostage. Using their Hyper-Reach® emergency notification system, campus police can contact the student body and text “Emergency in Building X. Stay clear if possible. Do you need help?” Using Hyper-Reach’s instant reporting web service, campus police can quickly assess the extent of people in harm’s way, responding directly to those who need help. Life saving information can be communicated quickly and efficiently.

“Positive confirmation messaging on phone calls has been available for years. This goes well beyond confirmation of receipt of a message. Until now, no one is the ENS market has provided this degree of two-way communication for SMS Text Messaging with this level of ease,” says Samuel Asher, president of Asher Group.
“This new technology has the potential to save lives. It is the most flexible positive response feature yet in the emergency notification market and we are proud to introduce it.”
