Los Angeles, Calif. (PRWEB) February 3, 2010
In conjunction with The Grammy Foundation Musicares (http://www.grammy.com/Musicares/), Los Angeles-based luxury clothing designer Dirt LA (http://www.dirt-la.com) released its first, limited-edition piece by famed eco-artist McKenzie. The environmental friendly, luxury T-shirts are based on "Sounds Waves", the artist’s painting of Neil Young, as the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year for the foundation’s 20th anniversary gala on January 29, 2010 in Los Angeles. These edgy, wearable reproductions incorporate Inku Art, 100 percent eco-inks, and material from textile manufacturer Eagle Fabrics, setting an unprecedented move in the fashion industry to provide entirely earth-friendly products.
Using its one-of-a-kind, trademarked process “Inku Fibre Technology,” Dirt LA is the first sustainable clothing designer to produce goods that not only use proprietary, green material, but inks, as well. Until now, eco-friendly clothing has consisted of muted colors, both the T-shirts and the graphics. Dirt LA is revolutionizing the field by fusing bold, high fashion, with earth-friendly resources. From how the fabric is made; the inks applied, using McKenzie’s “Inku Art” process; and how the items are packaged; the company strives to create lifestyle brand products using a 100 percent earth-friendly process. This cyclical methodology aligns with Dirt LA’s focus of giving back to the environment by reducing waste and using existing materials.
In addition to the company’s dedication to the environment, Dirt LA promotes community service by working with various charities, including, but not limited to, The Grammy Foundation MusiCares, the American Red Cross, and the AmberWatch Foundation. As such, the fashion label donates a portion of its proceeds to a different charity each month. This luxury apparel can be found at the Dirt LA website and also through MissionFish (http://www.missionfish.com).
About Artist McKenzie
Artist McKenzie is the winner of the first annual ARTV Fine Art Awards for "Best Mixed-Media Artist" in the world, which aired on Bravo Television. She is known as the "Hollywood Charity Artist" for her tireless efforts to raise awareness and funds for causes close to her heart using her award-winning art. Recently, she was diagnosed with a form of Lupus, thought by doctors to be triggered by environmental toxins from over 20 years of painting and the use of toxic chemicals in small, unventillated art studios and printing areas. Artist McKenzie's exhaustive efforts to pioneer a green, healthy, organic alternative to traditional art production has resulted in "Inku Art." This is the first and only hypergreen art method that meets LEED requirements and standards in five different categories and has contributed to LEED certification points.
