Digital strategy agency WebStrong Group (http://www.webstronggroup.com) received a Reed Award at the annual Politics Magazine awards ceremony. The Reed Awards recognize “outstanding achievement in campaign excellence,” and judges included Mark McKinnon, Christine Pelosi, Mark Penn, Bill Schneider, Steve Scully, Bob Shrum, George Stephanopoulos, Chuck Todd, Christine Todd Whitman and dozens of other political celebrities for the more than 70 achievement categories.

WebStrong Group began working with Kasim Reed’s campaign for Mayor in early 2009 and developed the digital strategy for Reed’s campaign. The campaign website operated on the WSG’s Netroots platform, which features a modern online organizing toolset, robust rich media, as well as an action-based social networking component branded as "Organize For Atlanta" for super volunteers to engage with Kasim Reed.
The strategy centered around the “Kasim Reed Everywhere” effort to enlist supporters from established social networking communities.
Kasim Reed increased in the polls from single digits to forcing a runoff with Mary Norwood, and ultimately, winning the run-off election. Kasim Reed's web presence and social networking strategy – which by the end included more than 18,000 supporters and followers – helped secure his success in the run-off where Reed’s total vote of 42,549 edged out Mary Norwood’s by 715 votes.
The award, received at Friday night’s Second Annual Reed Awards ceremony in Washington, DC, recognized the impact the campaign’s digital strategy had on getting out the vote in a close fought race.

Mayor Kasim Reed was inaugurated on January 4, 2010 as the 59th Mayor of Atlanta.
