Cosmedica Laser Centre and Dr. Mark Lupin announce Sonalift™ - non-invasive focused ultrasound treatment for lifting and tightening of lax skin. Considered the first in-office aesthetic device to combine ultrasonic imaging with non-invasive focused ultrasound energy, Sonalift™ - delivered by the Ulthera™ System - carries both FDA and Health Canada approval for lifting and tightening lax skin (2009).
Drawing on trusted ultrasound principles, Sonalift™ utilizes focused ultrasound energy to trigger the body’s natural healing response. New and improved collagen replaces older collagen leading to a gradual lifting, tightening and firming of the skin. A completely non-invasive treatment and usually without downtime, it can lead to a more refreshed appearance by lifting the brows and tightening lax skin about the cheeks and under the chin. Representing a first-of-a-kind technology, the unique system by Ulthera™ received Health Canada and FDA approval in 2009.
Extensive clinical studies conducted since 2004 have yielded safe, reproducible and clinically significant lifting of eyebrows, lids and lax facial skin. Patients may experience mild flushing but can normally return immediately to regular activities. Cosmedica Laser Centre is the first centre in Western Canada to acquire this technology as of 2009.
